My nephew was clicking around and my desktop has gone haywire. My files are gone, but I found them through a search. I found them under the Administrator settings. My wallpaper was switched, my favorites were reset in my browser. I tried switching users, but the only user it lists is Administrator. Help please!!!!!

you could do a system restore if you can find that and restore to a point before your nephew messed your computer up.

If its a PC then I can help. Go to the desktop (the screen that appears when the computer is finally ready to do something). Right Click on the Mouse and Chose the Properties (at the bottom of the drop down menu). You can change your Wallpaper and Screen saver there.

Find your Favorites in Windows Explorer and copy them (Control-C), then go to the C: drive (in Windows Explorer), click on Documents and Settings, then Administrator and Paste them there (Control-P). Answer yes to the prompt that asks if you want to overwrite the existing files.

If he comes over to use your computer again then log off, and make him log on with his own account, make sure he doesn't have administrator access. Then he can change the Wallpaper, Screen Saver, and your Favorites without affecting your settings. You can also decide what programs you want him to have access to so he stays out of your personal stuff. You can even delete the My Documents so he can't get into your stuff.

Go to the control panel and click the User icon. Recreate the name you want to use for yourself. May sure you are an administrar type not a limited. Log in as you.

Using the My Computer icon, go to the C drive, documents and settings folder and then the administrator folder. Open the My Documents folder. If your files are there, copy them over to the My Documents folder on your desktop. Open the Favorites folder, and if your favorites are there, open Internet Explorer and from the File menu to do export and browse to that Favorites folder.

You will also find all of your icons in the Desktop folder. Copy them to your current desktop.

Continue to look through the adminstrator folder for anything else you need to copy.

Also, you can right click on your desktop and click on "undo move"...that may bring them back, possibility one at a time.

Good Luck
