Microdermabrasion is used to smooth out your skin,, to remove dead skin and may cause you to break out. The reason you breakout is because your skin is trying to remove the dirt that has been absorbed by the skin. My sister is a mary kay consultant and I have the microdermabrasion set, she told me not to use it when I some acne because it causes you to break out more. This is normal. Just don't use the microdermabrasion until your acne has gone away. Continue to use the timewise set and it will go away in a few days.

I LOVE Mary Kay products and I just started using them. I have the Time Wise set and the Microdermabrasion set and my skin is doing great. You should talk to your Mary Kay consultant and see what she thinks. My friends also broke out on her chin and she thought it was the Microdermabrasion (you could have sensitive skin) try not using it for a week and see if that's it. I've used it and had no problems. I also use their make-up and love it too. I used to be really cheap and buy my products from drugs stores but I have gotten lots of compliments on my skin and make-up lately due to the "upgrade" to Mary Kay.

Unlike a previous poster stated, it IS true that your skin has an adjustment period, of cleansing the impurities out if you will. You should notice the difference between a break out & an actual allergic reaction that would be red, burning, stinging, inflamed, itchy, or similar to normal skin reactions.
You stated: I used it before so I cannot be allergic. This is FALSE, because you can develop an allergy to things you have been using, ingesting for 20 yrs or more.
If you like the products, give them at least 3 weeks to adjust. You stated when you were in HS but don't state your age now. Our skin, is ever changing & so must our skin care regimen. What might have been great for your skin then, is not necessarily what it needs NOW.
And you will tell by my tagline (source) you can't get a more unbiased opinion then mine as MK is our direct competition. :)

It definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. I have to ask though, are you sure you're using the formula that's right for your skin type? The TimeWise comes in three different formulas now, so you have to be sure you're using the right one!!! Also, because of your skin type you want to make sure that you don't use the Microdermabrasion too often.
Contact me directly at anderson_daryn@yahoo.com and I may be able to help you determine what is causing this reaction.

I would advise stop using it, the Mary Kay rep will tell you, oh this is normal and it is just bringing the impurities out, then 3 weeks later it still look bad. I say stop use now and switch to Arcona products, they are pretty much all natural and they have worked wonders for my skin.

It is possible to develop an allergy to a product, even if you used it before. I would talk to your rep and see if it is a normal reaction. Or better yet, a doctor or some kind of professional of that sort who can tell you if it just normal break out or an allergic reaction.

Did you use Timewise before, or one of the classic basic formulas? If you used the basic, try going back to that first and see if it helps. May help, regardless, to try another formula and see if the reaction disapears.
