Generally speaking of the United States I think that there is a lot of decent people. I also think that we don't have a good government right now. I think that the rich are getting richer while the middle class and the poor are getting poorer. I think that since we are the melting pot of the world we should be more accepting of each other and other cultures. I think that one race fighting against another is no better than what the Iraqians are doing with the Kurds. I think that our government is so eager to help the world but doesn't give care about its own people. But believe it or not I believe in the American Dream. I believe that we have the most rights which is why I can freely state what I just did without worry of imprisonment. I believe that the people of this country is what makes this country. When I look back at September 11th I remember where I was and what I was doing. I remember crying for people I didnt even know. I remember the anger I felt that day and the pride I felt when Americans all over our nation stood together unified for the first time in a long time. In general this is my out look on our country today.

Darlin', if there lovlies like you around in profusion, I'd say it's a pretty good place to be! Okay, now that I got my smartalek remark in, I have to say that it's still a very good place to be. We do have a great many profound challenges before us at present, and there are times when I'm not particularly encouraged at the direction we seem to be heading. Still, were I called upon once more to lay my life on the line in combat for my country, I'd do it again. It's still, as we say in the American Legion, "the country worth fighting for."

I agree with MadforMac - the USA is in a very precarious position. The USA is very rich and powerful but our moral decay will be the end of us. Our Youth have no fathers and our Prisons are overflowing. Freedom is interpreted as being able to do whatever one feels like regardless of damage to others.

Lots of bad and confusing stuff happening all the time, but the USA is still the best damn place to live. Why do you think so many from other countries want to live here?

This country, being the U.S.? I think we are like a train, out of control going down the tracks and we derailed (with Bush) and are now tetering on the edge of a cliff. Do we go over? Many are, they are in debt up to their eyeballs, spend like there is no tomorrow, have kids out of marriage, cheat on spouses, do dishonest things at work, are on porn, drugs and alcohol and wonder why their lives are a mess. Speaking of messes, our children aren't learning proper values and morals, it shows by their lack of respect for themselves and others. They only think of "being rich" but haven't a clue that they need to work hard to do that...and there is no guarantee you will make it and it certainly doesn't make your life happy.
We are in the worst state we've ever been in. We have thrown God out of our schools, government and lives. Is it no wonder we are going over the cliff...full speed ahead? Chooo choooo....
