We just saw this movie last weekend, I know a little behind, but hey we had a baby when the movie came out and we missed it in the theaters. Anyway, in the end Danny is dying and Rav tells him he's going to be a father, Danny says, "No you are" and then dies. I say Danny is telling his friend to take care of Evelynn, marry her and raise the baby as his own. My husband says that Rav and Evelynn had sex after he came back and Danny knew. He says they just didn't show us the love scene in the movie. He's driving me crazy with this, he's soooo wrong about it and will not listen to me! LOL! HELP!! Opinions about the ending please.

You are correct. I doubt, though, that telling him that all of us nuts on Yahoo said so will convince him. :)

Your husband is wrong. The filmmakers had Danny's life end such that the two men were friends again, no big grudges at the last hour. I don't think it would be the filmmakers intent to imply what your husband thought. It was a bittersweet ending for their friendship, but it wasn't that bitter. The child was Danny's, and Evelynn and Rav and Danny knew this.

I think a lot of the 'sickening cliches' have to do with the era in which the films take place; during the first and second World Wars, the USA had a very strong, almost unanimous feeling of patriotism and support for their soldiers, pitching in where they could. When we look back on the 1940's, it is the heroic stories of brotherhood and perseverance we generally hear about. While the script for Peal Harbor may have been cliche and predictable, great movies like Saving Private Ryan carry a similar patriotic undertone to the story. If you look at films like Platoon, or Born of the Fourth of July, for instance, the tone of the story is much different, when Americans were beginning to understand the gruesome side of war and protested it. Movies set in modern times about the current war in Iraq seem contain a similar message.

I saw the movie and didn't like it at all it was a stupidly told love story that revolved around a real life tragedy. I guess having been stationed at Pearl Harbor, and seeing what went on and also seeing the movie Tora Tora Tora the movie Pearl Harbor was dumb and stupid. I thought the same thing with the movie Titanic...

But anyway as I recall I think he just wanted the guy to take care of his woman because he knew the guy loved her as well and would care for the little kid. That is what best friends are for aren't they?

Watch the last chapter of North and South, yes there is a 4th part. It is somewhat similar.

I know I probably didn't answer your question the way you wanted, but I thought the movie stunk.

You're right. Danny knows that Rav still loves Evelynn and that he loves him like a brother. So he knows that he will love the child as his own. You are right.

I thought that too, that he was telling Raif that he was going to be the one to take care of Evelyn and the baby. I mean think about it, Danny's about ready to die and he knows it so he tells his best friend to take care of his child and love, wouldn't you do the same, so yeah you are right.

The one who dies, it's his bilogical child, but he's tells his friend it's yours because he now takes care of the kid...

That's what I took from it.
