haha if its in a bath them the gas is in a bubble and it pops at the surface. you would get the same effect if you farted in your own face.

i'm loving all these 'scientific' explanations though

because farts are made of water vapor and the steam from the shower carries the smell up to your nose faster, also you are in a small enclosed space. You will get the same effect if you fart under the covers and put the blanket over your head.

Try pondering this idea for a moment. Imagine standing in the shower poised to evacuate your intestinal tract you commence pressurizing the lower region of your bottom releasing a long audible fart, the oder rises to envelope you nasal cavity and you suddenly realize you have just inhaled microscopic fecal matter or tiny bits of poop!

its not that it stinks more, just that you get more of it. if your standing outside or inside it will waft with the airflow. in the bath or shower the steam will carry it straight up(noseward), because hot air rises of course, so you will just get more of it!!

More reason not to inhale your farts so much: The reason they stink so much is that microscopic bacteria in your colon produce small amounts of hydrogen cyanide, which is one of the deadliest substances known to man(Zyclon B) and that is what "odorizes" your fart, so have fun inhaling your own fart!!! lol.

When you are in the shower your nose and nostrils are wet.Any smell is enhanced because it sticks to those water molecules in your nostrils. This is one reason why dogs can smell better than us, because they are able to keep there nose moist all the time.

you're in an enclosed area (the bathtub/shower) and therefore the "stench"/gas cannot disperse as fast. happy farting!
