Forbes magazine has annual lists of top producing funds, and their managers. Money magazine also does this. You can also go to Morningstar's web site (same name) and they also rank performance. One thing that I have heard and read over and over again is that you want to find a fund that has good history not only with the fund managers, but also their assistants.

Nope you have to do some good old fashioned foot work. Ask friends for referrals.... meet with the money manager get to know them before turning over any money. A good money manager will take the time to get to know you. I have a investment avisor I have never sent a dime to, he sends my wife and I birthday cards and follows up with us at least once a month. When we are in a position to move some of our assets he will be the first I call. We are investing money with him.... he has already invested time with us
