You should apply at a school of Cosmetology. You have to take a regular courses, in make up , sanitation, design color,It is not just a couple of courses. Liscensed by the state andof course your state boards written and practical work.. I my self went to cost, school l yr, and lisc. for hair and nails then later went to makeup, for stage and reg. A lot of work, and not all cut out for it. you must have a real desire and talent, and an eye for all detail. Lots of practice and get good enough for the Prof. Shows then you will be on the way. Go Luck..

if you are good to begin with and have a knack for it, going to a makeup school will teach you even more, because i went to one in los angeles and it was wonderful...you think you know a lot till you attend one of these schools and they teach you so much about things you never dreamed of....try typing in makeup schools on google and you will find lots of them...there are about 15 in l.angeles alone...and different prices and length of class..so check them out...

In my county, it's taught at the Vo-Tech. But if you want practical experience, why don't you offer to help out at the community theater companies around.
