I am 17 years old and 5'2", 85 pounds. Everyone says I need to gain weight (I am 25 pounds underweight according to the "charts"). Do you think that's too skinny? I do not believe so because I think that I am only 85 pounds because I am short. But I also have big boobs too (C cup, natural). What do you think?

You sound perfect to me! I could almost curl you. Lots of guys/girls think short and petite is sexy. Forget these other idiots.

Why does it matter how big your boobs are? Yes, you are underweight....even for 5'2". But, you're only 17..so I would advice to keep doing what you are doing. You are still growing you know. Seems to me you just have a fast metabolism. In a few years it will slow down and your weight will catch up to you.

But, since you did decide to tell us your cup size. I would advise you to start doing pectoral exercises NOW....so your boobs won't be sagging by the time you're 23.

Just do 10 push-ups a day for now.

It's not scary skinny, but you need to go to a doctor about your stress and anxiety which is probably your reason for weightloss. You'll have difficulty solving your weight issue without solving anxiety and stress. Also seeing a doctor may help and ease your worries if you think you're a hypochondriac. I was that size when I was like 14 I think my lowest at that height was like 70 something but ate quite a bit. Now I'm 5'4 and 97lbs. I skinny but it's just my metabolism I'm almost 22 now. Also around my finals for my classes I always lose a lot of weight because I'm stressing so much for all the test. Try to think of what's making you stress out so much and see if you can solve that problem yourself. I usually gain my weight back after finals, but if I find myself stressing with a lost of appetite I go to the doctor and he'll prescribe me something to help and I increase physical activity like yoga that helps with stress build up.

The charts are there for a reason. They are backed up by doctors who know what they are talking about. My wife is an ex-anorexic. She would justify anything to say she wasn't "too skinny". Boobs don't matter. If you really do have anorexia then it will kill you if you don't get help. There is nobody who has anorexia for many years. They either get better or they die. See your doctor and get help. If you're not anorexic, you could have any number of other conditions that are keeping your weight too low. Please go to a doctor. Now.

Might not hurt to ask a Doc, I think there may be conditions that can cause people to be underweight and hard put on pounds despite eating well, like the body doesn't take in the calories as well as it should, or something like that.

You need to put on some weight girl!!
Revised: Actually it occured to me that if you have big boobs you probably are at your natural weight. If you were heavier and lost weight you're boobs would be the first to go and there is no way you would be 82lbs and still a C cup.

waaaaaaay to skinny...if you have big boobs you are naturally supposed to be a little bigger (they weight alot, i know i have c cups as well) anyway, dont be shy to put on a few more pounds...i am 5"4 and weight 132 lbs, and the men find me "the perfect size" (so i am told)...just excersize and keep fit, the weight you gain from excersing will be be from muscle, and that makes you look tonned and fit.

good luck, and no matter what you have to remember: do what makes you happy...if you feel beautiful, you are beautiful!

Are you naturally 85 lbs or are you starving yourself to stay that way? You are pretty tiny, but sometimes that runs in the family. If you're not eating properly then your friends and family are right, you should gain weight.

I am only two inches taller than you and way almost twice as much. The charts are supposed to be a guideline, it depends really on how you feel. Your body will have a weight it is comfortable with. If you have energy and don't have any problems, I think you're okay.

I am just a bit shorter than you, but I also weight a bit less. I think it depends on your body build. If you are an athlete and weight train, you will have more muscle mass, which weighs more. As long as you are exercising and eating right, I think you are fine.

You do sound underweight, but if you're 17, ask your parents about making an appointment to see your family doctor and see what he/she says about your weight, they will give you a healthy recommendation.
