Slow down, your life has just began. I am 38 now and have only been living the good life for the past ten. I choose to throw away my youth by doing drugs and drinking. I was totally lost, so lost I would stay stoned so I wouldn't have to feel anything. I think you may be more confused than lost. Confused at 21 is totally normal. There are some days I still wonder about the "what ifs" Are you in school? If yes than you will graduate soon, if not go sign up, If school is not for you satrt thinking about what you want to do. You know what? This will take too long here. E-mail me and I am sure I can give you some help. Just do me a favor, sit back relax and get ready to enjoy the summer. Get in touch with me, I can help.

If you decide to compare yourself to others, you can always find someone who's doing better than you are at something. Someone else has a better job, or a newer car, a bigger house, travels to more exotic places, kids that get better grades or who are better athletes - the list is endless. You need to learn that their lives are not your life; you need to decide what is important to you, and pursue that goal. You say you want to go to college; make that a goal, and work hard to accomplish it. Lots of people don't go to college right after high school because of money. If you've saved that money yourself, you will realize the value of that education all the more. Once you do start college, I'm sure you'll see a rich kid who parties all the time, drives a flashy car, and flunks out after a couple of semesters. That's because someone has handed them everything they've ever had in life - they never have earned it themself. You have an advantage they don't - you know the effort required to get there on your own, and the education you get will be that much more valuable. If you want more proof of this, find a copy of the book "The Millionaire Mind" by Thomas J. Stanley. It may help you realize what you have done, and what you can do.

I was one of those ppl who went to college right out of high school. Big mistake for me. I didn't know what I wanted to be, I didn't really want to go to college but all we got in school was if you don't go to college you won't get a job other than at McDonalds (nothing wrong with working at McDonalds by the way) and the longer you wait to go the harder it is.
So after a year and a semester I decided I was done with college. What I left with was a horrible GPA that made it harder for me to get into some schools. I have had to take all of the schools entrance exams and a I had to retake a few classes b/c D's don't transfer. It isn't that I'm not intelligent enough it was that I didn't care to go to college at the time and was more interested in partying.
What I had at 21 was a marriage and a baby. Planned that way by the way no oopps. My husband and I met, dated, decided to get married. I was married a month and a half before my 21st b-day. We had our son 11 months later (2 months early at that).
Today I'm 29 and still happily married to the same man. We now have a 7 and 5 year old. I have one semester left to finish up nursing school.
My point is we all have different walks in life. Different things decided which pathes we take. You are walking the pathes that will get you to the point you are suppose to be in life.
I bet you are ahead of the game. I bet you have had to learn how to be a responsible employee, how to manage money, run a household even it is only you you have to worry about.
Best of Luck.

You are going to be fine, and you are still so..... young. My husband is 37 and he just finished his Assoiciate Degee in Tool and Die, and is now almost finished with his journeymanship. He has a new job at Tyco and enjoys being a toolmaker, and I am so... proud of him, and he is making really good money. He is thinking about going back to school to go just one more step than a toolmaker, and that is an engineer. When he was going to College he was surprised that there were alot of people his age and older bettering themselves. So don't give up on yourself hang in there you will find your place. My husband knew some people who went to college right out of high school that hated what there major was and graduated and did not even use their skills, and wasted their time. Good luck in your future, because your future is bright as far as I am concerned you are so.... young.:)

I'm 25 and never went to college cause I got kicked out of the navy. I've been sad about it for a while. I wish I would have gone to college instead. But you know what? I'm not sad anymore, cause I decided to get out there and make myself better. So cliche, but Life is what you make it. While you're waiting on college, try going to some places with alot of unfortunate people and volunteering, like at a soup kitchen or somthing. It will make you feel incredible and seeing how fortunate you are will make you appreciate things better. Do something you're proud of while you wait!

You aren't behind at all. When you get to classes, you will see plenty of people from all different age groups in your classes. The non-traditionally aged student is the fastest growing demographic on campus. By the way, the traditionally aged college student is 18-23, so you are right in the "norm".

man, youre sooo not left behind. Chech THIS out: Im 27. I still - STILL dont know what to go to school for. The reason being is because most of the people i know go to school and when they graduate, they do the samt thing ive been doing. they complain that they regret taking a specific major up in college and are up to their ears in debt.

don't feel left behind.. i mean, you weren't wasting your time, you were saving for college, most of us wont have to do that, but that will only help you in college, it has given you an insight to life that most people in college wont have, this will make you stand out in class, and you will take more advantage of what your classes and your professors have to offer.
Good Luck!!! :)
