If you stick with that stick, you're gonna be stuck with a stick that won't do the trick for your pooter.
You can test them like a previous answerer said: Put in the 512 by itself. See what crap pooter says about it - if it says ICK! I hate this stick! Take it out, it won't do the trick.
Put 128 and 256 back in crap pooter. Then go to www.crapcomputers.com (the mftr. website) and go to support (not a suppository, please) and find the manual for crap pooter model #2 ;) Look up how much RAM you can ram in there, and ram in the max it will take. If it's too expensive on the web, see if you can pilfer parts from the bowels of old or tossed pooters. Many a stick that did the trick for me was obtained in this manner.
More than likely that 512 just isn't quite the right part. Make sure the ones you get are correct in all ways for the pooter. If the pooter still won't work, shoot 'er :D

128 + 256 doesnt equal 512 LOL
Ok just add 512 and the 256 stick. you will get have 768 of internal ram. when buying ram make sure you buy the same ones. For example they have 512 ram PC2700. If your going to buy two of them. buy both PC 2700. Dont buy one ram that has PC 3200 and the other PC 2700. The computer will not function or turn on and it may damage the motherboard.

Most computers only hold 2 memory sticks. My computer has a 256 and a 512 which gives me 768. Try deleting some of your old files and you can download a free reg cleaner off the internet. I don't have the web site handy but just type in free downloads for reg cleaner. Even though you delete programs they still stay in the registry and take up memory.

Your motherboard probably specifies what will work together. In general, if you have 4 slots, then these work in pairs. Without the book, this is guesswork.
If you put 512 in slot one, and 256 in slot two and see 768, you know that slots 1 and 3 work together.
If you put 512 in one and 256 in three and see 768, then you know that 1 and 2 are the pairs that must work together.
Good luck

Probably because the computer does not recognize each of the sticks when they are all in. Computers work in stupid ways, that's why it's best to stick with a certain size stick, and not have 3 stiks of all different sizes. Buy another 512mb stick, and get rid of the 128 and 256 sticks. Then you'll have 1 gig of RAM.

When you say memory stick, do you mean RAM(Random Access Memory Chips) If you do make sure they are all the same Kind. Each Computer has Different kinds of memory that you can add, I.E. 168 Pin or 133 Pin.. and 3200 up 4700 in types of ram. If you have Older Comp it make take older types of memory and one of ther chips you have may be a different Memory style chip not compatible with the Mother Board. check you specs on the Computer and see what kind of Ram it takes
