I've been thinking this over and I cannot recall the time, day or event that made me choose to be a straight woman.
It just is...and I can't figure out how to determine where my choice came from.

Very queer dilemma you have there. Maybe if you would stop criticizing other peoples spelling and concentrate more on your own problems you could figure them out. Sounds to me like you would rather be queer. Well...... homosexual, you are queer. Oh.......and learn to read a little better, If you would pay attention to what you are actually reading you would be able to understand it better.

I honestly do not think being straight or gay is a choice. There is something in each of our brains that is already set when we are born. I think many people think that a child's lifestyle will determine sexuality, and I think that is true to a point- meaning openness to experimentation in college, etc. But, I really do think that we do not choose to be gay or straight. If we did wouldn't the countless teenagers and young adults who are miserable "staying in the closet", suffering day in and day out, just choose to be straight?

Who said you were straight? I think we are all alittle confused about what that really means. I have a problem with any word that means what 17 different things.

If you mean "Not deviating from what is considered socially normal, usual, or acceptable; conventional", what does THAT mean in today's society? Polygamous relationships are becoming more common. Does that mean that now that is straight, because we are saying that's OK?

As more couples explore their sexuality, including self exploration, the lines of what is normal become more cloudy? Right? So why put labels to differentiate it?

The only thing I see for sure, is I have hanging external parts, so I'm male. I enjoy them being stimulated, I suppose that is straight. If that is what it really means. I think it doesn't. I think it means you have a gender preference, but are a normal sexual being, that enjoys the company of one mate to explore it. All of the other stuff is nitpicking. You're sexual, sensual and horny. Good for you! The choice was made when you decided person X is whom you wanted to share your "zook" with!

It was a Thursday. The choice came in a form of a french fry from McDonald's. Subconsciously you know that eating the fry would force you into heterosexuality. At first you debated... should I eat the fry that fell on the table or not? From that moment, your fate was sealed like a ziploc bag.

What? You think I'm kidding?

Doesn't it make as much sense as a cockamamie statement about "choosing" to be gay? I think you asked a wonderful question that made me laugh. Wrily. I wanted to give back some laughter.

I think SOMETIMES being gay is a choice. I know a girl who basically gave up on men after several bad relationships and now only dates women. Im sure she probably had some attraction to women before this but then again everyone has some attraction to the same sex especially during adolescense. My friend probably still has some attraction to men and might one day date them again but, this is a case where I do believe it is a choice, and there are some gays and lesbians who have gone this route.

You just paradoxed your own question. You said you did not choose to be straight. That means no one can tell you when you chose to be it, since you didn't choose it. Being straight is just natural and it happens automatically. however, being gay is natural as well. It's just harder to percieve, because the majority of the society is straight. Homosexuality is condemned and it is not the "RIGHT" way to go. Most people supress the feelings.

I think David misread your question. LOL. Anyway, I'm straight too. I just don't feel attracted to the same sex. Is there something wrong with me? I have lots of gay friends and they tell me it's ok to be straight and they love me for who I am.

Choice is a complex issue. In this case, you probably felt 'normal' urges toward the opposite sex...which makes you hetro-sexual...straight. If you felt those same urges toward the SAME sexual...you wouldn't be straight. Case closed.

Gay is not a choice. for those that dont realize the spirtual laws are karma and reincarnation. your spirit is a woman in a mans body. why? maybe because you hurt a man in a past life.
