Thanx guys for all your answers and so quickly too!! I really wouldn't mind, however, they are throwing dirt all over my porch and deck when they get in the pot and root around. The one on my front porch is on a covered tiled porch and I don't like the dirt all over the place. My husband keeps putting rocks in each and every time we find a new nest. There are three large rocks in the pot already and they still find ways. I am soooo sorry, but the mousetrap and skewer ideas sound great!

1. Put mousetraps in your potted plants. 2. Do you know those free cd-roms that all the online companies flood your mailbox with? Hang them up around your potted plants, they scare the birds away. I don't know why this works though so please don't ask me! But if I were to try this, I would probably glue 2 together so both sides are shiny. Good luck!

You should feel lucky, but I fully understand. The answer I saw about the owl works wonders. They sell cheap plastic ones at any Nursery Store. I'd also suggest that you put some larger rocks in the way, pointy ones so it will make it more difficult to build around your plants. But you should consider yourself blessed to have mother nature feel so comfortable around you!

Rose branches, with thorns, works perfectly, thats what I do. Or you soak some freshh leaves in vinegar and capsicum in the sun and then put it on top of your mulch in your pot....they dont like that much either...but rose branches with thorns are the best. (no it doesn't hurt the birds, they keep clear after one spike)

You can make a spook sun catcher with all of those unwanted free AOL CD's or bad burns from your CDR... the flashing sunlight scares them away
