BBQ tanks hold 20 lbs of propane. The tank, when empty, is 18 lbs, given or take 8 oz. That means that a full tank will weigh 38 lbs. If you weigh your tank and it only has 1 or 2 lbs in it, it may not work.

The empty tank will weight anywhere from 16.6 pounds to 18 pounds. But it is difficult to use every bit of propane in the tank, so unless the tank is new, assume it has 1 or 2 pounds of propane in it. The actual weight of the tank is stamped on the collar of the tank. It should say something like TW 16.6, which means it's a 16.6 pound tank when empty.
When the tank says 20 pound capacity, it means it can SAFELY hold 20 pounds, which means, it holds 20 pounds when it is filled 80%. This means the TOTAL CAPACITY is actually 25 pounds. (25 pounds * 80% = 20 pounds) Some people insist the total capacity is 20 pounds, so it can be safely filled to 16 pounds. This is completely wrong. Don't take my word for it. Go to Home Depot of any other store that sells propane tank and read what it says on the label. It will say that when it is filled to 80%, it holds 20 pounds or it will safely hold 20 pounds or something other to mean you can fill it to 20 pounds. It has been a misleading advertising campaign by some propane filling companies to make you believe that 20 pound tank would only hold 16 pounds, so that they could charge you a price for 20 pound and only give you 16 pound, or make it look like you are getting a good price for a tank when they only give you 16 pounds instead of 20 pounds.

All of the tanks I own have a manufacturers weight stamp on the collar of the bottle. Most 20LB BBQ tanks are between 16-1/2 to 17 lbs empty. They also have the date of manufacturer and a notice and/or warning that each tank must be "requalified within 12 years of the date stamped on its collar.". I ve found that some refilling stations strictly adhere to this date and others don t even look or mention that the date is expired if indeed it is...? You then must be the judge and decide whether to comply with that advisory or take the chance on your tank blowing up your BBQ, your home, your family and your guests to kingdom come...? You be the judge...

they are called 20 lb tanks because thats's the fill available legally - 80% of true 25 lbs capacity by law. The empty tank weighs APPROXIMATELY 18 lbs by itself . . Propane weighs at 70 degrees approximately 4.7 lbs per gallon. SO if you get a refill , then usually you will g et no more than 20/4.7 or about 5 -5.5 gallons ......unless your in Alaska !!!

A 20 pound capacity tank having a Water Capacity
of 47.6 pounds can safely hold 20 pounds of liquid propane with lots of empty space
above the liquid. Let me provide conclusive proof :
Tank will hold exactly 47.6 pounds of water and water density is 8.33 pounds per US
gallon. Therefore the TANK VOLUME IS 5.71 US gallons total.
Liquid Propane at reasonable temperatures has a density of 4.24 pounds per US
gallon. Therefore 20 pounds occupies 4.717 gallons of the tank volume.
The % of Tank Volume occupied IS : 4.717 divided by 5.71 => 82.6 % .
Tank filled ALL THE WAY UP with liquid propane holds 47.6 x 0.51 = 24.276 pounds.
Then 80 % of that is 19.42 pounds....again we are close to the 20 pounds.
The industry uses 0.42 to provide a one step method to calculate the safe fill
weight from the Water Capacity. Here we have 0.42 x 47.6 => 19.992 pounds

You can lose weight without exercise. You will need to reduce the number of calories you take in during the day. You will still burn calories, but not as many if you were exercising. Base your meals on a 2000 calories a day diet. You also need to take your age into consideration. If you are a teenager you are still growing and changing, and would need to be careful. Eat a well balanced diet, and eat in moderation. You should see results, maybe not quickly. Read more here:

Propane weighs almost exactly 4lbs. per gallon. A standard grill size tank holds 5 gallons completely full. Law only allows tanks to be filled to 80% capacity so a fresh filled 5 gal. or 20lb tank will have 16lb or 4 gallons of propane. Tank weight varies by tank age and manufacturer, older tanks are much heavier, but 16 to 20 lbs empty weight is the norm.

Use a vegetable bean dip such as hummus instead of ranch dressing or maybe a fatty cream-based dip.
