If one of you closest friends asks you for one of your darkest secrets should you answer? Or should you blow them off. Or what else?

What is the purpose for telling the secret? Most of mine are of stuff other people have asked me to take to the grave and barring further instructions I intend to do so. I will not break my word to one friend for another, unless something really bad is going down. If it is something that serves no purpose other than a desire of someone to "know" something, then I would obviously just say, "look, I'm sorry, there are things I JUST can't talk to you about." But if it were the case of my friend going through some trying time and knowing that I went through something similar or just even something bad so that I could speak out of sympathy or just give them a frame of reference I would do so, even if it meant explaining what I mean by Barrymore-Arquette syndrome.

Thats a tough one. I would say if it is your darkest or one of your darkest secrets... the only person you should tell those too are someone you trust so absolutely and completely that you know that the secret would be safe. If you dont want to answer it, just say it's none of their buisness.

just keep it to yourself. its called darkest secrets for a reason!!!! it's the stuff u tell ur great grandkids to impress them an show them what u were really like!!! not for someone to use against u when things go sour!!!

if you are minded not to tell them (very advisable) then lean towards them and say conspiratorially

'can you keep a secret?'

to which they will inevitably say

'of course!'

to which you respond

'well do can I!!

and then hold to your guns about not saying a thing

Is it something you want to share? Will it come back and bite you in the butt? If you do not want to share this, say "I would rather not answer that question" or "none of your business" or are you freaking serious?
