It's making me so angry. I've tried everything, even the old messenger...What do I do?

Yes, this is a firewall problem.

Don't reinstall Yahoo Messenger again, the current installation is fine.

Go into the Norton Internet Security thing. Look for the FIREWALL section. Get into the section that talks about ALLOWED PROGRAMS. Use the ADD button to ADD a program. BROWSE to find the Messeger program. (you might look at the Messenger program's ICON to find the full address to get to the program itself).

Good luck. Firewalls are not easy. But necessary.

Loose Norton. That won't be easy to do. Some where along the way Norton lost it's way. I was having similar problems and finally gave up on Norton. At the time it was the only anti-virus I had ever used. I didn't know how badly is was slowing my machine nor how many problems it was causing. Since then I have tried several. Some I bought and some were free. Even the free ones do less harm. Loose Norton. Try something else.

Use Trillian instead. With Trillian, you can have all of your IM accounts in one place...Yahoo!, ICQ, MSN Messenger and IRC are all supported.
