I live in a shared home, and someone who has just moved in smokes. I don't think they smoke in the house, but every time I step out of my room, I'm greeted with the smell of smoke. As a non-smoker, I find it very off putting.

What are some ways to get rid of the smell? I've found this weekend I've confined myself to my own room because I can't stand being in any room that smells smokey.

have you ever tried an air and fabric deodorizer spray? Spray all of it around on the furniture and curtains. If no longer something purely clean the living house! Mop the floor with Pine-Sol (that's a deodorizer), sprinkle some baking soda (yet another deodorizer) in the carpets earlier vacuuming, wipe the partitions down with some Pledge. once you're cooking and doing all those different issues with the living house windows open particularly the scent will deplete very much. If it nonetheless smells purely tell your travellers you had an twist of fate previously - it happens.

Oust! You've seen the commercial on tv? It works to nutralize the air. You can also purchase a Air Cleaner with Ionizer. The Ionizer works to counter act the negative ions the cigarette smoke present. And its sooo good for your health too. You'll sleep soooo much better, I guarantee it. You don't have to pay a lot for these air cleaners with Ionizers anymore. Check out places like Target, Fred Meyer, Sears, But a can of oust will be your best bet and costs about $4-$5 a can. Get the one for smoke if you can! Sorry to hear the news, I'm a non-smoker myself and very rarely my friend comes over and after shes gone I spray my livingroom, and poof - all better!

If you smell smoke in the house, someone is smoking in the house. The smell of smoke stays on a person who smokes outside, for only a little while. Perhaps it's bad body odor. Tell the new person to shower! And have them wash their bedding.

YUCK!

That is so rude, kick them outside, it's bad enough that wehnt hey come in they willsmell like smoke. Get a ozone generator for your room, baking soda the carpets.

If you are pure (you don't smoke) the smoke will instantly be attracted to your area, were ever there's the most fresh air.

Deep clean carpets and upholstery. Wash walls and ceilings. Put air freshner plug ins in every room. Open windows until house airs out.

You may need to buy an air cleaner for your main living space.

Spray all fabrics and rugs with Febreeze daily. I have found that Renuzit Neutralizer works just as well and much less expensive. But at the dollar store and save more. Also burn candles daily, never unattended of course.

Clean with Odoban ( available walmart & sam's club) and sprinkle baking soda on carpeting between shampoos to keep the smell fresher.

Good luck

I have heard that one step is to steam clean the carpets. Carpets absorb all kinds of nasty odors that plain ol vacuuming can't get rid of.
