I do it all the time. Spiders catch all sorts of insects - some of which really are disgusting (i.e. roaches). Plus, a neat little fact: it used to be considered bad luck to kill a spider in your home. Cause the spider goddess Arachnia was protectress of the home (where arachnid comes from)! Course always kill the poisonous ones. They won't do such a great guard job.

I had a pet spider, Charlie, when I was 13 that lived on my bedroom wall one spring and summer. Oh how we laughed and played. When my mom called an exterminator, I took him out of my room for a couple of days and hid him in my locker at school till the poison wore off at home. He ran away during winter and I never saw him again.

Lots of people find spiders to be beneficial in catching flies, and so allow them to build webs inside. Not me, but it reminds me of "James and the Giant Peach" where he befriended a spider.

NO, I KNOW THEY ARE GOOD BECAUSE THEY CATCH OTHER INSECTS BUT THAT IS JUST WEIRD AND DISGUSTING. PLUS THEY TERRIFY ME.
