All you need to do is go to your local courthouse, get the divorce packet, fill it out, have a copy served on your husband, and make your court appearances. If the two of you can split up your assets fairly easily, then neither of you need lawyers. If there is a fair amount of property to settle, or if you have children, or if you two are going to fight over everything, then get yourself a lawyer.

If the divorce is UNCONTESTED, go on line and download the necessary paper from your state. Fill out and file at the county court house...File for legal separation, one of you must move out, and the divorce will proceed in a timely manner. You will have to pay (0r split) court cost. This assumes there are no children involved. If children are involved, you will need a divorce lawyer to defend your rights, insure your getting what you need in the divorce, and insist on equal dispersion of the assets. Good luck

Aw, don't get a divorce! Just try marriage counseling!! But if it's really bad, consult a lawyer. They take care of that kind of thing.

my sister in law just did this a month ago.
she just went back to her parents for about 2 weeks and got an apartment for herself
call a lawyer or the welfare office can help you contact legal aid
or just look up legal aid in local phone book and ask them.
good luck.

Get a lawyer. If there are no kids, no real estate, no joint debts, look for a do-it-yourself website or document preparer.

You didn't mention which state you live in--but in some states you can buy a do-it-yourself kit from an office supply store. Really.

I just went to the prothonotarys office in the county court house and filed myself. I think you can do that anywhere. Cheaper to do it yourself too.
