When I say a question is interesting, I mean that I really had to stop and consider it; that it was something I hadn't thought of before.

Of course, you may be daft. I have no way of knowing.

Maybe. You are daft. But you could ask a daft question which wasn't interesting so they must think your questions are interesting, whether or not they think they are daft. I know you are daft.

If they're saying "that's an interesting question", I would take that as read. If they say "you ask interesting questions", they're calling you daft, but I couldn't say whether they mean that in a good way or a bad way.

I wouldn't say it's a way of saying you are daft so much as they are saying they don't know the answers to your questions.

Most people ask typical questions: "How are you?", "What have you been doing?". Questions that anyone, even a stranger, would ask upon seeing someone.
Your questions may mean the same thing, but may require more than "Fine, and you?" or "Not much, and you?"
It may also mean that your questions require some thinking before answering.
Without knowing the specific questions that draw this response, it is difficult to explain. Just be thankful you do not bore them.

Perhaps a definition of daft will help?

I looked at your recent questions and I don't think you're daft...I just think you ask questions that are unique and that most people don't think about.
