Yes, Yes and Yes.

You have 2 options in a mod as well, if you play with xbox live then you'll need a cheap, which is the more costly of the options. Once it's installed though, free gaming is yours (which the exception of free live gaming cause you still have to buy those games).

I prefer a softmod. If you don't use Live, this is all you'll need. You can do basically the same stuff with the softmod and it's less expensive. You will however need another modded xbox or action replay to get a gamesave to your hard drive.

With either option, you can do things like change your dash, run XBMC (Xbox media center), play DVDs without the DVD kit and most important, run emulators for Genesis, SNES, NES and gameboy to name a few (MAME too!). Well worth it for the emualtors if nothing else!

I'd say no, but I don't have a xbox. It's bad karma, too.

Not only is getting the mod chip a hassle (and expensive), downloading pirated games is a hassle, too (many times the files won't work).

Don't know, can xbox games also be rented? That would probably be more cost efficient. Or play them, then sell them on ebay?

That just depends on how much your time and money is worth too you? Would you rather spend it on something like a cheese burger or pizza? Or do you think that you'd get more satisfaction out of modding your Xbox? I have a friend who would probably swear yes, but personally, I'd rather spend my time and money on other things.

I have a friend that just got his Xbox and started moding it. He loves it. Judging by the entertainment he gets out of it, I would say yes.
