It's not a horrible way. But I'll bet it doesn't look very good.
How does he keep the spray line straight enough? I'll bet the "edge" undulates and is an ugly brown color.

I actually tried this and the edge was predictably not straight. Why? The Roundup trans-locates to the roots and kills the whole plant, wherever in the lawn it happens to have some roots. So your edge tends to be uneven and may slowly continue to die back further than you intended.
It is a whole lot easier spraying it than hand digging it out. Maybe a solution is to cut the edge in, straight down with a spade or hand edging tool (or rent a power edger) and then, spray the Roundup on the part inside the cut line. If the roots are severed the Roundup cant get to the good grass and the line should end up more straight.

Roundup will kill all the weeds you spray it on..nothing more :) To edge a lawn....rent a lawn edger :)

a flat edged shovel twice a year or use a half moon edging tool...twice a year...better than using roundup every time you mow...

My niece taught me to use a steak knife and it works great to edge along the sidewalk.

using an edger would be the proper way and to me i think it owuld actually be quicker than spraying round up
