what about the people who think pain feels good?

certainly. if there were not many things which all people agreed on, it would be impossible to even attempt to communicate, reason, or judge others. It is the fact that humans do in fact share certain beliefs that makes intersubjective dialogue possible. How could it even be possible to reason with a person who agreed with absolutely nothing you said? The only recourse then would be force. I would say that we all agree that causing unnecessary suffering is bad, for example. While there may be people that do believe that causing unnecessary suffering is good, it must be admitted that it would be impossible to reason about ethics with such people.

I suppose that if you wanted a strict interpretation, the only thing which all people MUST agree on is that something does in fact exist. But for the sake of supporting dialogue and reason over brute force, I think we must in fact assume that there are common beliefs present in all "reasonable" people.

Egos cannot agree on anything. Egos are personal inventions, false selves which we make up as defenses against emotional traumas. A story that tries to explain and justify why we didn't do what we would have done if we hadn't been so scared. The switch from innocent being as child to “growing up” and being how we should be as a rationalized character.

I don't think so.

You could say "the sky is blue", and someone in a time zone 12 hours away from you would say "it actually is black".

You could say "water is good", but people in Louisiana would say you were wrong.

You could say "love is the answer"....hey...wait a minute.....maybe THAT"S what we agree on!

well we could all agree that we have been born, and we could all agree that we will all die from this current form..definitely the first, maybe the latter.
