Depending on how many times they have to go over the carpet, yes, it can take all day to do a room with heavy traffic wear.

well after a murder mystery weekend the carpets do need that white outline around the red winestains the in carpet removing before the 'real' police get there

Don't get your hopes up - She probably actually is... We chicks help each other with everything. Whenever one of us has to clean house etc... we sometimes all pitch in and help. Sad, I know...
