My husband is 71 and urinates anywhere from 12-17 times a night. Urination during the day is more normal. He is somewhat obese, if that might be a factor. The doctor checked his prostate and said it is okay and didn't have any other answers. Does anyone have any idea what this might be and what he can do about it?

Did they check your husband for Type 2 diabetes? Polyuria (frequent urination) and nocturia (getting up at night to urinate) are both common symptoms. Was he checked for a UTI? (Another possible cause, though it's more unusual for men to get these infections.) Is he on any sort of diuretic (water pill)? That could also cause frequent urination, particularly if the dosage schedule is such that he takes it close to bedtime. Ask your husband's doctor about these things if you haven't already; these are common problems that might cause nocturia.

Sounds like old age creeping in. Talk to other men who are 71 and compare. May just be normal or close to it.
