She probably has conjunctivitis, a viral infection in the eye.
Just a warm washcloth on the eye is all you can do at this point.
It will just take a few weeks for this to go away if that is what she has. It is miserable but she will get some antibiotic eye drops to keep it from getting a secondary infection.
I had that for three months and I had tiny blisters on my cornea and couldn't see almost but it finally cleared up and went away.
It will probably spread to the other eye.
She should not be around other kids as it is highly contagious.

It takes time for it to go away so hang in there. Warm gentle washing and warm wash cloths held on it is about all you can do.

You can clean her eyes using a cotton ball dipped in warm water. Use a new cotton ball for each eye and wipe from the inside corner to the outside corner. Please wash your hands before and after cleaning and encourage your granddaughter to wash her hands more frequently. The only cure of conjunctivitis is antibiotic eyedrops so make sure you see the doctor as soon as you can.

My son had the same problem before...............they told me to give him Benedryl and keep wiping the eyes with warm water. Make sure you use cotton balls instead of washcloths the washcloth will just infect the other eye if it's not already infected.
And also make sure hands are clean before and after touching her eyes. I hope this helps your great granddaughter feel better.

She probably has pink eye. My doctor told me to rinse the eye with saline solution (a little bit of salt and warm water), do this every hour or so. Since pink eye may be contagious, make sure you don't use her towel and that both you and she wash hands frequently.

use warm compresses--it will draw out the pus. It should be as warm as she can stand it and put it on for 20 minute intervals.

well, depending on her age, i think that i've used mascara for my daughter who was around five, and also if she's old enough try benadryl, not the cream, could be an allergy.
