There are loads of games like this. Most adventure games (not counting shooters) are quest based. For a few off the top of my head, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Zelda Majora's Mask, God of War, Blood Rayne Series, Kingdom Hearts Series, and Fable. There are many more, but these I find to be exceptionally good. There is also a free site www.neopets.com that has many quest type games. They have in depth plots that involve lots of searching. As well as specific item quests, that have you playing games for points, and then spending those points, for items that someone asks you for.
