Common problem - 2 options:

1. Plan for a grace period. If you have plans at 7PM tell him you need the kids by 5 and he'll show up at 6 and you're still ok.

2. If he says he's coming to pick them up at x time, don't be there. Make him wait....and he'll eventually be motivated to be on time.

well, you are lucky he brings them home at all, my gf's ex has a dozen pathetic excuses of why he couldnt get them there, mostly given at the time he should be dropping them off, so she has to go get them. I dont even bother riding with her there anymore, i am disgusted that she gives in to him.

you could try doing the same to him or try having someone else wait for the kids (a sitter) while you go one with your plans. this may help get the point across to him.

Tell him to please be on time with the kids so that you can get where you need to be or call whoever you are going with or who are you going to visit and tell them you will be a little late. Please be patient and wait but also talk to him and tell him to please be more punctual next time.
