I worked out really hard, and I forgot to stretch after. Now my legs are so sore that I can barely walk. What can I do for the pain?

Due to the lack of stretching you have now trapped the lactic acid in your leg muscles. You'll need to stretch them out slowly and carefully. Do this at least three times a day if not more. You'll need to allow the lactic acid to re-enter the blood stream so as to excrete the wastes naturally. A massage at this moment will not be prudent. Allow thw pain and swelling to subside somewwhat before the massage. If the pain is too great to begin stretching, then ice it down for twenty minutes on and twenty minutes off. When the pain is at a workable state then slowly begin stretching. Some aspirin couldn't hurt as it helps to thin the blood and allow for the excretion of the lactic acid a lil' quicker. Good luck to you!

I'm sure it varies from person-to-person -- but, for me, Ibuprofen is a "miracle pill". If I have a sore muscle, I can take 2-3 Ibuprofens and literally feel the results in about 30 minutes. For example, I can wake up in the morning and have what feels like a "pulled muscle" from having run the day before ... bad enough that I feel like there's no way I can run again that morning. But I then take 2-3 Ibuprofens and about 30 minutes later the pain is gone enough that I am able to go running. Maybe it's just me ... but my body is very receptive to Ibuprofen.

stretch out before you workout, stretch out during your workout, stretch out lightly aftrewards. this keeps your body nice and limber. afterwards you can soak in a tub if you want, also potassium is good in that it is a good preventative to being sore, so eat a banana. as for the predicamtent you're in now that you didnt do all that mentioned above. just soak in a tub with some salts and tough it out dumbdumb. thats all you can do really.

3 things, massage the aching area with your hands, or apply heat or cold, everyone reacts differently in terms of whether or not thier muscles react to heat or cold by relaxing. Soaking in a hot bath tends to work for most people, it usually relaxes muscles. Cold usually works best for swelled muscles. Heath expands and energizes molecules while cold slows and groups together molecules, keep that in mind ;)

You can do light stretching and massage to assist ridding of lactic acid build up, which causes the pains.
Ibuprofen also helps well, as does drinking plenty of water to flush it out!

Exercise a little bit more tomorrow, focusing on the parts that hurt. It will loosen up the muscles and keep them from hurting too bad. After that, take a long, warm bath to relax your muscles.
