Do you want to transfer certain files or all of them? To transfer all of them , go to the iPod harddrive, and get the songs! Files are going to be hidden so you need to make them visible (Tools, Folder Options, View, Show hidden files). You are gonna have to copy all the folders, also, the file names are really strange, like FRTGS, so you must look at the tag to identify the songs.
If you are looking for a specific song, just search for it in the harddrive (check search hidden files) by providing the title or singer...
You will never be able o do the transfer using iTunes, since it does not allow a reverse transfer.

if you are trying to get rid of the songs just delete them. if you're adding them to your library, highlight the everything on the iPod, copy it, then paste it to the library. this should work. if itunes is freezing up, then there's probably something wrong with itunes, and youshould maybe try reinstalling.
