It's the normal way to serve people who have to stand in line to wait, either in a physical line or on the phone: "Your call will be answered in the order received." This is to be distinguished from a push/pop stack, like the ones in those spring-loaded plate holders in cafeterias. That is the last in, first out.

A first come first served basis is really self explaitory. It's like if you are first you will be served first reguradless of resavations of other situations

Exactly as it says. If you turn up at a counter to be served, and no one's infront of you, you'll get served because you're first.

let's say a grand opening at a restaurant. the first people that walk in the door first get served first. simple as that.
