The Cardinals actually try to continually put a winning team on the field. The Cubs don't try that because they know they can make money with their beer garden ballpark.

Part of this may be because of culture: Saint Louis has a proud baseball tradition, and the Cubs have a losing baseball tradition. The pressure of finally breaking that long trend of being the "loveable losers" is incredibly draining over the course of a long season. Oh, and also because the Cubs are incredibly dependent upon the health of two unhealthy pitchers who shall not be mentioned here.

The Cardinals front office and farm system is better. The Cubs are capable of being much better.

The Cubs are not bad, just because they are not winning, there is more to it than stats. The Cubs play good and are always there for their fans!! I love the Cubs win or lose they are always good to me, because they never give up!!

The cardinals know each other better because they have anal with each other and the Cubs are straight and dont do that

Management decisions. Who to acquire, who to trade, when to play them, when to take them out. The Cards management and coaching staff blows the Cubs staff out of the water. The Cubs have the talent, they just don't have the leadership.
