I can't find one of my fish in my tank. I'm sure it is dead but I can't find the body. I have moved everything around and searched through the gravel, but no sign of it. I know the other fish eat the dead ones but do they eat the entire body?

yup...we never have to fish a dead fish out because the other fish including the algae eater consume it.

That may be the case, that the other fish ate the entire thing.
Also, have you checked the floor? I've had fish leap out of the tank and go unnoticed on the floor for a couple of days.

Depending on your filter it could have gotten sucked in there. Or it went for a walk. Catfish will also pretty thoroughly strip the flesh off the body. Lastly if it was a small fish if could have been eaten whole.

i would suggest that you look on the ground around your fish tank. fish have a bad habit of jumping out sometimes. if your fish tank has no top then that is what probably happened. unless of course you have a small fish missing and a bunch of larger fish still there. then it probably is a case of fish eating fish.

Also, if you have large snails in the tank, they will eat dead flesh and totally consume a dead fish.

Yes they probably do, but it might have been mushed into nothing aswell. Make sure you clean the tank because it might make the other fish sick.
