It's a form of control that (usually heterosexual) men in a patriarchal society like to exercise. It helps affirm their maleness and control of women. Your question also is worded in an interesting way, much as most stats are reported. You always see "x many women were raped in the past year" but never "x many men raped women in the past year" and therefore you never see the blame placed on the men responsible.

'Tis a bit much to be prying into others' lives like this on such a painful topic.

This is from a mans point of view. I agree with the other answers to your question. But my answer is not like the rest, Any man that would rape a woman needs to be locked away for good no paroll. First his balls tied to a trailer hitch and his butt drug down the street for public display. Once in jail he should be horse whipped every day to let him suffer the same pain and suffering he caused the girl or woman to endure. To let him see how he ruined her life.

The worst advice one of my friends ever gave me to avoid rape is to "just say yes".

If you are raped, you have 72 hours to get a rape kit done at a hospital. After that, a lot of the evidence is gone.

I avoided a very serious situation once, it wasn't my first but this one in particular I kneed him an pushed him off me, pulled on my boots and ran infront of the first car on the road, which was a truck....he gave me a ride home. The guy was suppose to be my friend too.

That has to be the dumbest question. Do some research on your own. I think you're a bit daft.

Oh to answer your question...I think rape in any form, done to male or female is a reprehensible act...

Like anyone is really going to tell you something so personal and traumatic... if you are so concerned about the statistics look them up on the FBI site and stop trying to get your rocks off from on such a heinous crime.

You need to grow up. Women who have been through this do not need some idiot asking questions. Have you no feelings.Their are other ways to find out the information you want.

You know....I don't find this to be an appropriate question. I find that women who have been raped or sexually molested do not care to relive their story and I don't think that they would even care to share their story to where LITERALLY lots of people from around the world could see it.

Rapists deserve capital punishment without possibility of appeal.
That is, in true, forcible rape.

"Date rape" raises valid consent issues, and the punishment should be 5 years in prison.
