It's compatible with windows, it's a plug and play device that when purchased comes with a driver installation disc. Updated drivers are also available for download vie the iPod website.

its compatible when setting up the ipod it'll recognize it as a windows pc its attached to. I have a dell laptop and mine works fine.

nope, you sure don't. i just recently bought an iPod and it's compatible with both. it comes with an itunes disc and it will install itself accordidng to your operating system. however, if you are planning to purchase an apple computer, you will have to reformat your iPod for macintosh use. right now i'm visiting my sister, and all they have is windows, but i do have an apple eMac at my house, and i have no problems with it.
