A yard isn't by the pound. It is 27 square feet no matter the weight.

Depending on moisture content and compactness soil will weigh between 2400 and 3500 lbs per cubic yard or 90 to 130 lbs per cubic foot.

a yard is not measured in lbs. as the soil may be somewhat wet.
It is measured in volume

Actually it's 27 cubic feet. There is not way to measure it by weight.
