I'm 21 and live in Los Angeles and I'm thinking about moving to Mexico. The reasons why, because I have acne and I've heard that Mexico have great acne products. Also, I am half hispanic and I have family there, but I don't know which city and I never met them. I also want to learn more about my culture. I only know a little spanish, but I'm willing to learn. Which city in Mexico do you recommend me going to. I want to live in a city that has everything. Most importantly I want to live in a city that doesn't have crime. I was thinking about Cancun, because I heard there's plenty of girls there. Could someone please give me some information. I also need some job information, do they have good jobs there, are the people nice, things like that. Also, how could I find someone to guide me around the city. Could I get there and randomly ask someone to guide me around or is this a bad idea. All I know about Mexico is the water problems and all I drink is water.

Thank You!

I suggest you to move for 3 or 4 months to see if you like Mexico, because it is a lot different for tourists than for residents.
It's a great idea to move to your home country, and to learn about the culture, language etc.
Cancun is good but for tourists.
There are cities that have everything, malls, super markets, parks, big airports, etc., one obiously is Mexico City, the problem is that MexCity is a mounster, is too big, if you can "make your life" around one specific region is OK, but if you live in the South and work in the North, forget it!
There are also nice cities such as Monterrey, the most industrialized city of Mexico; Guadalajara, Puebla, Querétaro, Morelia, and cities around Mexico City like Toluca and Cuernavaca, which are very nice and with the advanatage of being 1 hr. from MexCity. Visit the most cities you can to decide, also make sure to have a good job, house, and all you will need.
Of course we have security problems, but not very much, not all you think we have, you just have to take the normal cautions.
Water!!! You can buy a "garrafón" (19 lts. of water) for less than 2 dollars and have it at home, or 1 lt. bottles for around 60 dollar cents, it is not a problem, also you can install a filter at home to drink tap water, in most restaurants, offices, etc. they have garrafones or bottled water.
Enjoy your new life!
PS: If Lopez Obrador wins the July 2nd elections don't even think to cross the border, he's a really mad socialist man.

To begin, Cancun has plenty of real Mexican elements; it's not all tourists and partying, although the face it presents to the world may indicate otherwise.

I lived in Mexico for three years and they were some of the best years of my life: great people, tasty food, and a broader appreciation for the intangibles in life.

The first place I lived was Puerto Vallarta. It is very relaxed and has a nice climate. It's mostly warm and sunny, although it gets very wet during the rainy season. Not a huge amount of cultural things to do there, but they have great art galleries, restaurants, and the beach set on the lovely Bay of Banderas.

The second place I lived was Mexico City or DF. DF has everything from Estadio Azteca, the world's largest (seated) capactiy stadium in the world, to the Museo de Antropologia, arguably the finest museum of anthropolgy anywhere. It's also very polluted--I spent a month fighting watery eyes and a scratchy throat. The crime there is some of the worst and most blatant I've ever seen, partly due to the police force's complete ineptitude and insidious corruption. (It's not even close to the ocean, so if you like the beach, you'll miss that element.)

Lastly, I made my way up the Gulf Coast until I settled in Ciudad Juarez. This is an unusual place. It's a dusty border town with plenty of American influence ('imported' US clothing, cars, culture, etc), but it is rich with history and has a fight-for-survival type of struggle that shows in the eyes of the town's residents. I would only recommend Cd. Juarez to the hardiest of expatriots.

Felicidades on your interest in your own Mexican roots! Along with the normal dischord, rejection, and anxiety you find (to one degree or another) anywhere else in the world, you will also find even greater amounts of love and hospitality and tranquility. Que te vaya bien!

As long as we have corrupted governments on this earth and all of the human elements that there are, ( greedy, lazy, stupid, too smart to work, natural thief etc) , there will be crime. Just look at it as an element that makes for more interest should you ever want to write a bookl And don't be so scared. Mexico has some dangerous elements as does anyplace but it seemed way nicer to me then here. But I was only in Rosarita Beach for a little over 24 hours maybe. But I had hepatitis B and I drank the water in the hotel bathroom because they dont have drinking fountains that I could find and I was broke . It was hot and I probably drank it at least thriee times and it cured my hepatitis.

The city i would recommend you to go is Queretaro because it has all services and it is not as big as Mexico City where the traffic will drive you crazy. The watter is good, i dont know who told you about problems with it but don't worry about that. I wouldn't recommend Cancu, unless you want to work in a hotel because it is a city for tourists.

I'm married to a mexican guy and we've been living in mexico city for one year now (i'm planning to go back to the US is Lopez obrador wins the election!). Eventhough it's a beatiful city, i'm already starting to get sick of it, there's a lot of traffic and therefore it's very polluted, besides, since it's a very big city (i think the biggest in the world), distances are extremely long and it's kind of tyering. I think u should go to queretaro, it's a gorgeous city and it's near mexico city, my sister in law lives there and she's very happy, besides, people are a lot nicer there than in mexico city, it's a great option!!

Hey... what acne products are you talking about?? I live in Mexico and I'm clueless about it hahah....

Well, Hermosillo is a rather safe city here and we welcome americans... and lots of people speak english here because it's close to the US; the problem here is the heat (it is in the sonora-arizona desert)... it's a living hell during summer

WOHT IS RIGHT ABOUT THIS LOPEZ OBRADOR GUY... IF HE WINS I'LL DO EVERYTHING IT TAKES TO GET OUT OF THE COUNTRY (LEGALLY, OF COURSE, DON'T WORRY "ALIENPHOBICS")

Chocolate ... I think you need to stay home and get a job. Cancun of all places indicates you aren't interested in your roots ... just partying and goofing around.

"Don't know where family is" ... well go find them !!!
