Solve for y:
6y=-x+3,
y=-(1/6)x +(1/2)
The coefficient of x is the slope and the othe rterm is the
y-intercept. So the slope here is -1/6 and the y-intercept is
1/2.

Okay, you need to simplify the equation so that it looks like y=something. In order to do that, you need to divide the whole equation by 6 because 6 is in front of the y in your original equation. Now your equation looks like x+y-3=0/6 or just
x+y-3=0. Now you need y to take the place of the 0 in your equation. In order to do that, you need to subtract y from the entire equation, which will make your equation look like x-3=0-y
or just x-3=-y. Notice that y is negative, because you subtracted it from zero. Not cool. You need to make y positive and in order to do that you need to change the signs of the whole equation so that it now looks like -x+3=y. Now you have something you can work with. There is a formula for finding slope and y intercept that goes y=mx+b where you already know what y and x mean, m is the slope, and b is the y intercept. In your case the y intercept is easy to find, it's the only actual number in your equation, 3. The slope is a little bit more difficult because there is no physical number in front of the x variable. In a case where there is no number in front of a variable, insert a 1. So if I were to say to you "x" I could say the same thing by saying "1x". Your equation is made more difficult by the fact that the x is negative so in this case you need to insert a -1. So your equation looks like -1x+3=y. The slope is the number in front of the x, so your slope is -1. But that doesn't really help if you need to graph it out. Any number, if you divide it by one, is still the same number. So 1 over 1 is 1, 2 over 2 is 2, 3 over 3 is 3 and so on. So your -1 can also be written as -1/1. THIS is what gives you your slope. If you already have a fraction in front of your x variable, your job is that much easier. If it is a whole number, put it over one and THAT is your slope. Slope is written as y/x. So in your case, in order to graph the line, go up 3 on the y axis and make a mark. Then, because you need to do y/x and your slope is -1/1 you are going to go DOWN 1 and RIGHT 1 and make a mark. Connect the 2 marks with a ruler and you have your line. It should start at the top left of your page and slope down to the bottom right of your page.
Now, I'm not a math teacher and I'm certainly not afraid to say that I suck at math so if you get everything completely and totally wrong, sorry, but I warned you. Review the formulas online or something through google and CHECK YOUR WORK!!! If I only learned one thing in math it was to check my work.

the easiest way to draw a straight line graph (as this is), is simply to plot two points on the graph and draw a straight line connecting the two points.
so try x=0 and using equation you get y = 3/6 = 0.5
and try x=3 and again use equation you get y = 0/6 = 0
so plot the points 0 , 0.5 and also 3 , 0 and connect with a straight line giving you the graph for all values of x or y
it doesn`t matter which values of x you use, i just used 0 and 3 to keep the value simple.
note that this two point drawing of graphs will only work if there is no powers in the equation, so couldn`t be used if the equation was something like x squared plus y = 20

move the similar terms to similar sides of the equation. You do this and you'll get: 1/3x+1/3x= -8-1 which comes to 2/3x= -9 now, i'm not sure if that is 2/3x or (2/3)x. I'm assuming it's the second. In which case you multiply by 3 to get 27 and then divide by 2 to solve for x. X= -27/2 = -13(1/2)

the slope is the ratio of the x coefficient to the y coefficient (actually -ve of this in this case as the x and y are on the same side of the equals in this case). So the slope is -1/6.
To get the intercepts set x=0 for the y intercept and y=0 for the x intercept. Thus the y intercept is x=3 and the x intercept is y=1/2.

I won't give u the answer, but I'll tell u how and hope u r 13 cause it would be kind of bad for a 13 to tell someone older how to do slope. Ok plug in x with -1, 0, and 1 work, then do rise over run, which is y divded by x.

you move the x over to the other side by subtracting it, then take the 3 to the other side by adding it. That makes it:
6y = -x +3
now divide the whole thing by 6
y = - x/6 + 1/2
your slope is -1/6 and the y-intercept is 1/2

first put it into y=mx+b....just subract x and 3...and divide by 6...what ever is attached to x is your slope (m) and what ever is left on the right side is your y-intercept (b)....to find coordinates, just plug in any number....or once you find the intercept, you can use the rise over run to find the next point..i hope i made sense
