See a doctor. Some are not curable.

You have gotten many good basic responses.

"STD" is the acronym for "sexually-transmistted disease." These can range from yeast infections men pick up from women and then pass back (called the "ping pong effect") to HIV/AIDS. You don't want ANY of these disease.

The most common of STDs have either treatments - because they are not curable - or cures. For example, HIV/AIDS is incurable today but treatable and don't think that treatment is going to do anything more than prolong life before the disease finally kills you. It is a horrible way to die.

Also, Herpes Simplex 2 is incurable. There are several treatments for it but it means you and your parnter(s) must use condoms forevermore.

Gonorrhea, syphilis, "crabs" (genital lice), and a number of other STDs yield to cures. They are all very, very infectious and if you have ANY symptoms or have been diagnosed - or if you have been told a previous sex partner was infected - do NOT engage in ANY sex, including masturbation, until you have had it treated and have been offically told that the disease is entirely gone. In the case of crabs, but also in particular herpes, you must also be exceptionally careful about washing clothing, towels, sheets, etc. exposed to the infection/infestation. This can be NASTY stuff.

Abstaining from all sex, including masturbation, is wise if you have any STD - but if you MUST, then first get advice from doctors about how to prevent passing this disease to others - or passing it along to your own body parts elsewhere. Herpes is especially dangerous this way. You can transfer it to your eyes, for example, and make yourself go blind. This is probably the ONLY way masturbation can cause blindness, but you won't laugh about it.

Because STDs are social embarrassments - and in some places, almost a death sentence - you may be afraid to go to a doctor. There are private and public health services devoted to caring for STDs that will not inform people if you have one. Some countries, such as South Africa, are in denial about the causes and consequences of STDs, but there are still organizations with help even if you cannot pay. PLEASE travel as far as you must to get help if you are even suspicious you have one.

Sexually-transmitted diseases are all dangerous. Not one is a joking matter. Wisdom in choosing partners and how you engage in sex can go a long way to protecting and preserving yourself, as well as others.

STD is NOT an illness, it's an acronym for a group of diseases that's sexually transmitted from one person to another. There are millions of stds with various symptoms. Some are curable, some are terminal.

There is currently no cure but new drugs are coming out every day to help keep the various diseases in remission.
