Kindness gets you the more valuable things in life. Toughness gets you the fleeting things that sometimes cause heartache, a loss of peace, lasting relationships, things money can't buy. Toughness can, however be good in the corporate world, but again fleeting joy. I prefer love, peace and happiness however I can get it even if it means I take the first step. At least I know I did my part. No one should ask more. If they do smile and say no. That's tough enough.

A person can be kind and tough at the same time. It is all about having clear personal boundaries.When you know who you are,your confidence is apparent and it may appear to others you are you are "tough". I prefer to refer to it as being in control.
