You do look HOT in your picture - I'd like to come over to cool you off.
------
try changing the air filter, a unit will freeze up if the air flow is to low.
some units have a power box outside on the wall behind the unit. if yours does make sure its on usuall the handle should be up.
go to the fuse box in the house and turn it off then back on. The break might be tripped but looks ok by taking it off then on you reset it. most AC and furnaces have two breaks set both to on
yes check the thermostat. set the temp to a lower tempature to make it come on
make sure its set to cool not heat
if you have a digital thermostat if might be set on Automatic instead of manual set it to manual and set the temp to about 74 degrees. lightly tap your thermostat it could be stuck.
if its digital it may need new batteries take the cover off if there are batteries under the cover replace them.
is there a small fuse in there much like the ones used in cars. make sure its ok.

Go down to Home Depot and pick up a new thermostat. Then pull the old one off. Remembering what wires were tied into each terminal. (REMEMBER TO TURN THE POWER BREAKER OFF TO THE THERMOSTAT BEFORE YOU BEGIN!!)
Once you put the new one in turn the power back on then give it a try. It this doesn't work then you have an issue at the Air conditioner unit itself. Call a repairman. Get a fan.

Maybe the thermostat in the unit is bad or you are just too hot for it to handle.

I think you should call the AC Company and ask them or just go to the lake and relax, take a swim.
