Peace is simply a period on non-agression. Peace does not last because nature does not lend itself to promoting the "peaceful". Any animal unwilling to fight for its food or territory, does not live long. Individuals and even groups of people, hell whole nations of people, can be "peaceful". How long do they last? Peaceful people usually get their butts kicked into submission then they have a choice: remain peaceful and enslaved and faced with extinction, or fight back. I'm no militant extremist nor do I advocate war or agression. I'm a realist and a student of human nature. Hey, it is what it is.

Becasue peace is a principle that requires everyone's participation to be realized. How many welathy people would be willing to give up their wealth for peace?NONE! even those who are just comfortable are not willing to give up even a few of those comforts. As with most things in the human expirience it about power. The powerful control the powerless until the powerless revolt. Then they in turn become the powerful and the cycle continues.

Not hard for most people, very hard for people who want what others have, or who just want power for power's sake.
There will always be the bullys, the sadists, the Saddam's of the world that will need to be dealt with. You can't reason with them, they don't think like normal people, and are the cause of most modern wars.
Most of the world is willing to help out when famine strikes, and lend a hand when illnesses sweep through. Some folks just don't get it and have to have it all or at least rule it all.

Yeah and it's because people in power are obsessed with money and gaining more power, and because people are obessed with which religion is right and which religions are wrong, and because people seem to think that just because someone is of a different race than they aren't as good or deserving of life as they are.
Money, politics, religion and racism hold our civilization away from finding peace. It's a global problem that will probably never be fixed because we, as a collective, are so blinded by our ambitions for money and power. Isn't it silly?

Peace as defined by whom??
Sometimes peace is achieved by war. Sometimes by politics...
Peace has NEVER been free. Peace always has a cost. If you are not willing to fight for peace, then be prepared to give up all of your rights for whatever version of peace will be given to you by whatever Dictator tells you to do....
There are examples of that kind of peace in Iran and was in Iraq.
How fearful are they of their governments?

Because when one person succeeds it inevitably hurts other people. For example, if I become #1 in a race, everyone else drops down a rank. Or when feminists make things easier for abused women in the legal system, it makes things harder for falsely accused men. Or when the neighbors throw a loud music party, it annoys me, etc.
The human world is fundamentally everyone person vs every other person, with laws and restraints tacked on.

Too many egos involved! We can't accept that a different way of doing something can be just as right as the way we do it. It's a jungle out there! Humans barely act a step above animals.

yes it's hard to live in peace...people by nature are not contented to what they have...we will continuosly seek for better life...and we will always find ways to get what we want resulting in hurting other people...but that's the reality of life!
