i have noticed that on all cars, the side mirrors have a little saying on them. "objects in mirror are closer than they appear". that's pretty stupid if you ask me. why would they be closer than they appear? wouldnt that lessen your judgment of distance?
please explain it to me, cuz i honestly dont get it.

it means like if u look at sumthin in da mirror it looks smaller than it really is...i was just thinkin about that 2day 2!!

The right hand mirror is slightly convex to give a wider field of view for safety. It also makes things appear smaller so a vehicle would appear to be further away due to its smaller reflected size than it really is.

They use those mirrors so that the driver can get a larger area of what is behind him on a smaller mirror.

that mirror is convex so that it has a wider angle of view. a wider angle of view reduces the size of our blind spot on that side of the car. the result is a lower magnification of what you are seeing on that side of the car and stuff seems farther away but its not

In order to make the field of view larger, so that you have a wider vision area, each item is reduced in size.....
