I can't claim to know what book will chance YOUR life, but I can tell you the one that changed mine-- "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards".

Even if you have NO interest in learning to draw, the insights in this book about human nature and the different ways people perceive the world will open your eyes about more than you can imagine. It helped me understand my parents, my wife, people I've met at work through the years and why so many of us speak different languages even though it's all called "English".

I just read a book two weeks ago called The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo. It is the first book I've read in a long time that did not involve either death, murder, or war. It is a very heartwarming book, not very big - you could probably read it in a few hours sitting. The author also has other books that are inspiring, but I haven't read anything else yet. It is a story about a boy who is pursuing his goal.
