Isn't it interesting that men tend to answer much higher than is true, and women much lower, regarding the number of partners they have had? Who are the girls that these guys are sleeping with? Thye can't ALL be the same ones? Are the men sleeping with each other then? Or could the answer actually be that men and women have equal libidos????? And therefore should be treated, hmmm.... equally?
Sexualtiy is a private choice, and should be respected as an important part of a person's life. What he or she chooses to do with it should be his or her choice. Everyone is wired differently, and most people of the later generations need time to sort through all the conflicting and confusing messages out there before they truly know who they are in any way, especially sexually.
My personal experience with this question, though, is that the number of partners you "can" have is relative to the integrity of the men you choose as partners (can respect privacy vs looking to brag about a conquest). Interestingly, this mythical figure also decreases, among circles of women, proportionally to how attractive the woman is...

you are allowed zero sexual partners as a female unless, it is your husband, you are a virgin or a slut,at least in the united states, I don't know about the culture in other countries

I know you are speaking about a womans reputation - I don't think there is a true number. But socially tained would definitely apply if lets say she contracted a sexually transmitted disease.

Socially tainted...it only takes one. Men now a days are ruthless...and if they don't like what when down...they'll talk ****.

I think it should be as many as a man is allowed.Unfortunetly it's double standrard and society seems to only think one.
