I think it's a big issue still because if you compare back then and now it's very similar ... it's so hard for non-whites to gain any kind of power, they really have to fight for it...when a white man beat babe ruth's record everybody cheered. when a black man did they accused him of being on steroids..and thats just one.
and i'm sick of hearing people say ' what's your problem ?you were never a slave, and i never owned a slave so get over it' like it's so easy to forget history of their ancestors who were treated like animals for so long....how can you just forget that it happened ? maybe it would be easier if everybody was treated equal but we still can't even seem to do that.

It's still a big issue. Racism has gotten better over the years but it will take a while for it to stop since prejudice is unfortunately a basic part of human nature.

I think that people now are less racist than before and i don't think racism may stop anytime soon because there is always someone who has been taught "don't talk to THOSE people".
I'm not racist at all i think were all the same ... if you poke a needle into two different people that are different races blood is going to come out of both of them....not one blood and the other water..Everyone is the same and should be treated equally!!This is what i think.I really wish people would stop being racist it would be a better world:(

Honestly I will get you my best answer on why racism is still going on today and why it will continue. Mainly between blacks and whites. Because neither side will agree if you expect everyone to be all one group and one belief then never. Because one side will say it in the past move on. But the other side will take that offensive and debate their claim.
Example if you told be to forget my history are almost any blacks will resent it, because we believe whites already don't understand or can't relate so we will argue back explaining why. Just a whites will argue back explaining why not.
If blacks don't except what happen 50 years ago or 200 years ago, that white people don't care. And if Whites don't except that blacks want you to care about it, then that relationship will never get better. That's why blacks talk about it because whites don't care what happen so blacks will always bring it up. They tell you so you can relate, but whites take it as wanting "handouts" or others things.

Racism is contributed to by the colleges and by the Left Wing of the government. I mean when they choose somebody for higher learning based on anything but merit, and since they've based this choice on race!!!! The same goes with the welfare system. It has become a bureaucracy that rewards bad behavior and penalizes good behavior, like marriage, what can we expect except for people to act in the way that best rewards them. This keeps the race dependent on the bureaucracy and the bureaucracy in power. Also, the race baiting has changed hands. For instance the congressman from Georgia accepted a bribe of 100,000 dollars, gets caught with 90,000 in his freezer, but the reason he is tossed of his committee is because of racism?!! If I refuse a door to door salesman's pitch, I'm accused of racism only because he happened to be black and I happen to be white?!! It has nothing to do with the fact that I don't accept solicitors at my door, no matter what their race?!! If we look at the facts, statistically in inter-racial crimes a white man is 60 times more likely to die at the hands of a black man than a black man is to die at the hands of a white man. Yet the fault is continually laid at the feet of the white man for inter-racial strife. This is one of the many big reasons I've moved from Left to Right Wing Conservative. The names of the groups represented are reversed today. Republican means the masses are represented in government, Democrat means the masses self govern. But the Dems are now advocates for elitist representative government and the Repubs are advocates for self governing. If this ever changes I will switch parties again, but until then I am for conservatism first and self rule as much as possible second.

No, it isn't. The only thing keeping it alive at all is the media playing it up for headlines and the politicians playing it up so they have a platform to run on. The ignorant of all races just lap it up because it gives them an excuse to be couch potatoes on someone else's nickle.
Most people see it as old news except in the boondocks, and it's dying out there, too.

It is definantly a big issue. When you are a minority you feel it often. People will always have their prejudices and jealously so it will never stop. Especailly when the world is governed by those who dont feel the prejudice. They can sugar coat it and pretend it doesn't exist.
