I was watching television with my parents. Pity about the shooting because they didn't show "Harry Worth" one of my favourite television programs. I remember my mother saying that he was a good man, but that was before the truth came out.

I was at school, 4 year old and knew nothing about what the grown ups did outside of family and school.
Princess Diana's death - I was at home, turned on the TV in the morning, and it was on the news all day so watched. I was not a monarchist but Princess Diana was a good woman in many ways so it was very sad to see her die in such unfortunate circumstances. That would be the nearest for me, and many others in the UK, to a "Kennedy".
9/11 I was at a demo against the arms trade in London when the bad news was announced at 2.40 pm (BST). I was saddened by the news.

Well when JFK was assasinated, i wasn't born yet. When Princess Diana was killed i was 11 or 12 years old and my mom bought the Sunday paper and it was on the front page and she was freaking out, I knew who Di was... sort of, I was still at that age where I didnt understand why people were sad about someone dying whom they didnt even know. During 9/11 I was in Highschool, 10th grade, in english 1st period. I guess one of the teachers was listening to the radio in her room and told all the students that something hit the WTC which... I didnt even know what the world trade center was at the time... There were so many stories going around as to what it was, lots of people said it was a bomb, I really didnt realize what happened till I got home and watched the news that afternoon, little did I know that that would be the only thing on TV for months to come and that event would change my entire life. My Fiance is in the military because of the terrorist attacks, the whole thing really made a huge impact on my life in the years following.

I was in 6th grade, doing my best to not pay attention to was the teacher was saying, when the Principal came into the classroom and told us that President Kennedy had been shot. About an hour later, he came back to tell us that the President had died. I don't remember anything else about that day.
It was sumer break between my sophomore and junior year in high school when I learned about RFK. I grew up on a farm and had to get up early. I had my clock radio set to come on at about 5:00 a.m. I thought I was dreaming when I first heard that RFK had been shot.
I have no recollection of the day that Princess Diana died other than thinking it was a great tragedy. I felt sympathy for her family and her children. But being a citizen of the USA, Brittish royalty really doesn't play a significant part in my life.
On September 11, 2001, my wife and I were on our way to have lunch with some friends in Columbia, SC (we were travelling from Virginia to Florida on a business trip). I had left our motel early that morning and hadn't turned on the radio, so the first I heard of the attack was when one of our friends called us to ask us if we were still having lunch.

I wasn't alive when Kennedy was shot (born in '81) but I certainly remember where I was when Princess Diana died and 9/11 occurred. I remember coming home late the night that Princess Diana had died. My friends and I had snuck into a closed public pool that night and were sliding down the water slides and swimming. I remember coming home and turning on the TV... On 9/11, I was still living at home with my parents and was in the shower when my mom knocked on the door and told me to hurry up so that I could see what was going on in NY. I remember a few minutes later, after I'd gotten out, my mom came running in and told me that a bomb had gone off at the State Dept (which turned out to be false). I remember going to work and people weren't even working at all. Some people had brought in portable TV's and everyone was just standing around and watching with their mouths wide open. It was a very eerie day..

President Kennedy...I was in sixth grade. I can remember my teacher being called out of the room. When he returned, he told us that the President had been shot.
Princess Diana....I had a horrible headache that day. When I brought the Sunday paper in, I just dropped it on the table where it landed face down. I didn't find out that anything had happened until my sister called at 4:30 that afternoon and asked what I thouight about the news of Diana.
9/11....I slept late that morning. About 9:40, I got a call from a friend who told me to get out of bed and turn the tv on because a plane had hit the WTC. The record of that call is still in my Caller ID unit.

I had an appointment with my doctor scheduled for 9:00 AM on September 11, 2001. I remember leaving my car about 8:45 AM and walking to his office. No one in the office had radios or television sets turned on, and we knew nothing about the attacks while they happened. Later on, at about 9:40 AM, I left my doctor's office and walked to the hospital next door, where I was scheduled to have some x-rays made. When I entered the waiting room, I noticed a crowd of people around a television set. Also, no one was at the sign-in desk, and I was completely ignored. When I complained, someone said, "Look at the TV!" It was only then that I learned what had happened. I felt like the world had come to an end, and I was in a state of shock for the rest of the day.

I was in third grade. I do remember that all of the teachers were very upset about something. They announced that school was going to let out early. I walked home and turned on the TV to see if any cartoons were on. No cartoons...just all of these somber people telling of the shooting. I don't remember if I was watching the live broadcast of Walter Cronkite when he announced the death but I've seen it many times since then. My older sisters were very upset when they returned home that day. There was one more thing. Not too long after the funeral there was a book published called The Torch is Passed. It didn't have many pages but it had most of the significant images of the event. I remember looking at its black & white photos dozens of times. Each time it made me sad.

Kennedy - I was in my cot
Closest thing was
1. Dunblane. I just sat with my 4-year-old and stared at the TV and cried
2. Twin towers. I can remember every single detail. A friend told me a plane had crashed into 1 of the towers. I had been there the year before. At that time they thought it was a horrible accident. I watched the 2nd plane crash on the TV. Then the tower collapsed. I was sure it was the start of WW3
3. The tsunami. Words fail me

Kennedy died before I was born. The closest thing I have to a
day like that would be 9/11, although maybe it should be
compared to Pearl Harbor instead. When it happened I was
sleeping and missed the whole thing. I was told about it hours
later.

I had just come home from work and still living at home with my mum and dad when Kennedy got shot. As for 9/11 I had been at work and hadn`t heard about it. I telephoned my friend when I got home and she told me to turn my TV on and that America would never be the same. I found it unbelievable and kept thinking it was a film "IF" but sadly it was true.
