Mine was beautiful last summer too, and I had the same problem, so my husban call the guys from TurfGreen, I dont know if there is one where you live and they just put a lot of new seeds and tell us to water it a lot and my lawn is beautiful and green again. I think you can buy the seed at any nursery and do it yourself.

You may have grubs. We had the same problem and we needed to redo parts of of the lawn that died but first we needed to treat the area to get rid of them. We choose a commercial treatment place {Naturescape} to come and do that part for us to insure it was done correctly, but you can do it yourself if you like yard work. Lowes, Home Depot, Menards etc... sell the stuff you can use. The other option is to ask a lanscape company check it out, they may want to have your soil tested. Good Luck.

You might have lawn grubs. This happened to me with an older lawn. If you dig around you will probably see them. There are products out there that will help you eliminate them.

Good luck.

When you mow do you leave the dead grass lying? If so it will kill off your lawn in patches. You should rake or run over it again with your blade raised.Good Luck

it could be lawn grubs, it could be too much fertilizer, it could be not enough water...lots of things contribute to a dead or sickly lawn...you could remove the dead sod, treat for grubs, and then lay fresh sod down, or you could reseed, but that is less effective than sod, because it gives weeds a chance to take hold...
