Well, we'll need to be in the top 2 of 4 in our group, which is looking difficult. At this point, tying Italy isn't bad, but we'll need to beat Ghana in our next game to actually have a shot. Assuming Ghana loses all of its games from now on and Italy loses or ties, we might have a shot. I believe if teams are tied for points they look at goals scored, so having a good scoring game for our last match would help a lot. All in all, the odds are bleak, but, like most other sports, anyone has a shot.

The results you mention will put USA through. Should the Czech Republic draw with Italy, and the US beats Ghana, then USA will miss out, unless they beat Ghana by 6 goals! So there's a slim chance. Of course if USA draw or lose, the party's over.

2018 - England - Spain and Portugals economies are in ruins and FIFA dislikes co-hosts. - Holland and Belgium aren't probably backed by their governments, they have commented on the poor hotel facilities and FIFA dislikes co-hosts. - Russia's transport is rubbish (although hosting would improve this), the stadiums are too far away from each other and the crowds are racist. - England have uncovered corruption in the FIFA voting process, have the history as this is the home of football and have hosted well before (1966 World Cup, Euro 1996). If FIFA are sensible (questionable I know), then football is coming home. 2022 - Australia - They know how to host sporting events (2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, 2003 Rugby World Cup) and take sport very seriously, have the stadiums in place already and Australian Football is a growing domestic league. It will also be Australian winter time so the conditions will be less harsh than in America. - The Americans had it only 28 years prior to when this comes around and I think that is too soon, plus, it isn't even one of their major five sports. - Japan & South Korea only hosted it 20 years prior to when this comes around and again that is too soon, even if they are individual bids. Also South Korea could potentially be involved in the start of World War 3 with North Korea. - Qatar would be a major security worry for me, they may have the financial resources but I refuse to take it as a serious bid. @Tamara Nartichti - Yes, well the 2002 World Cup Finals that were in Japan/South Korea didn't go as smoothly as seemed, they didn't like the political in fighting that went on between the two countries and it's left a bitter taste in FIFA's mouth, in terms of co-hosting, ever since. Having said that Austria/Switzerland did a good job at Euro 2008 so it can be done, although, as I pointed out, there are other reasons why the bids for 2018 shouldn't go to the two co-hosted bids. Nobodies economy seems good, it's just the levels of debt in some countries is much, much greater than others. Spain, for a good example, have SEVEN times the debt that Greece has and the Greek government have basically come out and said the country is broke and have an emergency loan from the IMF (International Monetary Fund). Whilst hosting the World Cup would generate revenue and jobs it is eight years away and they can ill afford spending money they haven't got preparing for it now.

Slim to none. Ghana has a lot more speed and energy. Italy will come out hungry and probably beat the Czech's but Ghana's desire seems to be greater than the US teams.

well, if Italy beats the Czechs and the US Ghana they would be second in their group with 4 points, meaning they gonna be in the next round ....I think it's possible that the US beats Ghana if they play faaaaaaaaast and improve again, but well, everybody was underrating Ghana in first place and if any game runs out any different, they gonna be packing....

Really hope they don't make it! B. Donovan's hate words against the Mexican Team tell the human quality of the U.S. Team an the poor sportmanship they display.
However, a tie between Italy and Chezcoslovakia will virtually wipe them off the Cup, and you know? that's what both teams will be looking for!!
