MySpace is a social networking site. Their rules actually prohibit young children from participating (though a lot of young children circumvent this policy by lying about their age).

Tom is the founder of MySpace. He is the default friend when you join, but can be removed.

Myspace is predominantly populated by young adults, from about 15 through 30. Most are in high school, college, or recently graduated. Very few "elderly" people (40+) are members. It's a social networking site that's far too complicated for unskilled computer users, hence the lack of "adults." Most adults wouldn't find any use for it anyway.

Tom, the creator of Myspace, is added by default to every account as the first friend once it is created. Most people don't bother to delete him, either out of respect or laziness.

Tom is the official help contact. If you have a problem with the service or need assistance, you send a message to him. He starts out as the first contact on everyone's list.

"Tom" is the owner. No, it's not meant for kids, although there a lot of kids on there. It was originally intended for musicians to connect, share music, talk, and all of that. But it seems that all the emo kids took it over.
