It doesn't hurt the baby- it's another old wive's tale spun by women generations back because so-and-so didn't limit herself and her baby choked on his cord.. My little sister was born with her cord around her neck-- a lot of babies are- and it's an easy thing for the doctors to take care of during birth, anyway. Reaching up high won't cause any harm to your baby unless you are trying to LIFT something heavy. Just stop whatever you're doing if it begins to hurt or you find yourself short of breath.

idont think that it hurts the baby when you reach high for things. according to the doctor he told me that if i reach down you could hurt the baby spinal cord.

look ive been pregnant and just had my baby and i use to do that and nothing like that happened to my baby.. but i do hear that the baby has balled up inside cause of reachin and carring heavy things but that didnt even happen to me soooooooo............
